Studio Madhouse is already known as one of the best animation studios in Japan. First founded in 1972, Madhouse is famous for presenting anime with stunning graphics. Starting from TV series, feature films, to OVAs, Madhouse has produced many famous anime titles.

Hunter x Hunter (2011)
Adapted from the manga by Yoshihiro Togashi, Hunter x Hunter 2011 is a remake version of Hunter x Hunter which was released in 1999. The 2011 series is considered better than the 1999 series. Apart from presenting stunning animation, the 2011 version also has a story that is closer to the manga.

This anime itself tells about Gon Freecss who becomes a Hunter to find his father, Ging Freecss. In this anime, Hunter is a promising, but dangerous job. Hunters have several privileges, one of which is being able to explore unspoiled places and capture mysterious animals.

Monster (2004)
Even though it’s an old anime, Monster is still known as one of the best psychological thriller anime ever. This anime focuses on a neurosurgeon, Dr. Kenzou Tenma, who must stop a serial killer.

Previously, Dr. Kenzou was once cornered with a difficult choice. He must choose between saving the life of a child or the mayor. Not wanting to regret his decision, Dr. Kenzou decided to save the child’s life for coming first.

However, 9 years later, Dr. Kenzou just realized that his decision was wrong. The reason is, the child he once saved has now grown into a serial killer.

Hajime no Ippo (2000)
Also known as Fighting Spirit , Hajime no Ippo tells the story of Makunouchi Ippo who becomes the victim of bullying at his school. Even though he really wants to change his life, Ippo always doesn’t have the passion to make it happen.

Until one day, Ippo was beaten until he passed out. Ippo is then saved by Takamura Mamoru who is a boxer. After being impressed by Takamura, Ippo asks Takamura to train him. However, Ippo had to go through rigorous training to begin his journey as a boxer.

Death Note (2006)
Monsters isn’t the only psychological thriller that Madhouse has produced. In addition to Monster , the studio also owns Death Note , a series adapted from the manga by Takeshi Obata and Tsugumi Ohba.

This anime focuses on the psychological battle between a genius student named Light Yagami and the best detective in the world named L. Both have different goals. Light wants to create a new world by killing criminals, while L wants to stop Light.

Wolf Children (2012)
Wolf Children tells the story of Hana, a girl who falls in love with a werewolf. Despite knowing her lover’s real identity, Hana still loves him and they decide to get married.

After marriage, the two have two children, namely Ame and Yuki. Unfortunately, Hana’s husband suddenly died so Hana had to raise her two children alone. Not wanting people to know that Ame and Yuki are werewolves, Hana decides to take her child to live in the countryside.
