The Norwegian coach was dismissed after the club’s poor results this season.
Most recently, MU was brushed by Watford’s promotion team with 1-4 in the 12th week of the Premier League. The defeat made the Red Devils occupy the eighth position in the Premier League.
For a while MU is now led by Michael Carrick. He was interim manager until the Red Devils found a new tactician.
MU itself was immediately linked with several coaches after sacking Solskjaer. However, there were many objections.
Here are five coaches who reportedly have refused to train the Red Devils.
Brendan Rodgers is currently under contract with Leicester City. However, Rodgers is the bookmaker’s favorite to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.
Rodgers finally opened up about rumors to Manchester United. The former Liverpool boss said the speculation linking him to a job at Old Trafford was disrespectful.
“There are two things. First, it’s very disrespectful to ask questions like that when they have a manager (Ole Gunnar Solskjaer), a good manager and a good man, working for the club,” Rodgers told Rodgers.
I’m here as manager of Leicester City, I’m proud to be here, feel privileged to be here and fully committed to the player, the club and the owners.”
Wayne Rooney is Manchester United’s all-time top scorer. The man from England is currently coaching Derby County.
The former Everton player has also been linked with a return to Manchester. However, Rooney refused to return to Old Trafford because he was still focused on Derby.
“I am focused on Derby County. I am committed to the club, and will stay here until someone tells me otherwise,” Rooney was quoted as saying by Goal International.
Luis Enrique has also been linked with Manchester United. The Spanish national team coach was reportedly asked by Cristiano Ronaldo to coach the Red Devils.
The rumors have reached Enrique’s ears. The former AS Roma and Barcelona coach just laughed at the rumors.
“Is today April Fools’ Day,” Enrique says with a laugh.
Erik Ten Hag
Another name that is predicted to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United is Erik ten Hag. The Dutch coach is currently dealing with Ajax Amsterdam.
Ten Hag’s gait with Ajax is quite impressive. However, the 51-year-old man is still not interested in becoming a MU coach for now.
“My focus is coaching Ajax, issues like that just want to distract me,” said Ten Hag, quoted by the Mirror.
“This is a strange question. I didn’t hear anything about it [Man United’s job], so I can’t think about it.”
Zinedine Zidane’s name has been widely associated with Manchester United lately. Incidentally, the French coach is still unemployed after leaving Real Madrid.
Zidane has a reputation for winning the Champions League title three times in a row with Los Blancos. However, Zidane will not take the vacant Manchester United manager position.
According to reports, Zidane feels he is not ready to move to England. In addition, his wife did not want to move to the city of Manchester.
