Barcelona again parted ways with Philippe Coutinho. This time the Brazilian player was released to Premier League club Aston Villa.

Coutinho joined Villa on loan. He will be on loan at Villa Park until the end of the 2021-2022 season.

Aston Villa could make Coutinho permanent at the end of his loan period. The reason, Villa pocketed the option to buy Coutinho from Barcelona.

Before Coutinho, Barcelona quite often released players to Premier League clubs. Not even a few are released at a fairly expensive cost.

Here are five players that Barcelona sold to Premier League clubs at high prices.

Yaya Toure
Yaya Toure has been a part of Barcelona throughout his successful career. He was with the Blaugrana for three seasons in 2007–2010.

Toure was able to appear regularly in Barcelona’s midfield at that time. However, the Ivory Coast midfielder finally had to leave the club during the leadership of Josep Guardiola.

Barcelona sold Toure to Manchester City in 2010 for 30 million euros. Toure went on to win three Premier League titles at the Etihad Stadium.

Yerry Mina
Yerry Mina came to Barcelona in January 2018 from Palmeiras. Unfortunately, Mina did not last long at the Camp Nou rarely getting the chance to play.

Mina has only made six appearances in all competitions in a Barcelona shirt. He was released to Everton in the summer of 2018 for 30.25 million euros.

Mina is currently still in the Eveton squad. In 2021/2022, Mina has only played six matches in the Premier League under Rafael Benitez.

Nelson Semedo
Barcelona signed Nelson Semedo from Benfica in 2017. The Portuguese right-back got quite a lot of playing opportunities at Camp Nou.

Semedo overall recorded 124 games in all competitions for Barcelona. He managed to contribute two goals and 11 assists from these appearances.

Semedo played for three seasons at Barcelona before being released to Wolverhamtpon Wanderers for 32 million euros. He is now playing under the tutelage of coach Bruno Lage.

Cesc Fabregas
After leaving La Masia as a teenager, Cesc Fabregas became the best attacking midfielder in the Premier League stage with Arsenal. He returned to Barcelona in 2011.

However, the Spain international failed to establish himself as a regular at Barcelona. Fabregas eventually returned to London with Chelsea in 2014 for a fee of 33 million euros.

Fabregas won two Premier League titles during his four-and-a-half years with the Blues. The 34-year-old currently plays for AS Monaco in Ligue 1.

Alexis Sanchez
Alexis Sanchez has mostly come off the bench for Barcelona. As a result, the player decided to leave Barcelona in 2004.

Sanchez continued his career in the Premier League by joining Arsenal. The move from the Chilean player to London cost up to 42.5 million euros.

Sanchez spent four and a half years with Arsenal. The player won two FA Cup titles and a Community Shield during his time at Emirates Stadium.
