After competing in the AFF Cup 2020, 8 heavy agendas await Shin Tae-yong

Shin Tae-yong has no time to relax after leading the Indonesian national team to compete in the 2020 AFF Cup. Because he has been waiting for at least eight agendas with the Indonesian, U-23, and U-22 national teams throughout 2022.

2021 SEA Games and 2023 Asian Cup Qualification
Less than two months later or precisely after Eid, Shin Tae-yong’s U-22 national team is scheduled to take part in the 2021 SEA Games Hanoi, Vietnam on 12-23 May 2022.

The 2021 SEA Games were supposed to be played on November 21-December 2 last year, but had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shin Tae-yong will try to bring home the gold medal at the 2021 SEA Games after the U-22 national team only won a silver medal in the 2019 edition due to being slain by Vietnam 0-3.

In the middle of the year aka June 8-14 2022, the Indonesian National Team will compete in the Third Round of the 2023 Asian Cup Qualification. The draw for that round will be held on February 22, 2022 based on FIFA rankings.

The Indonesian national team, which is in the fourth pot, is in danger of entering the hell group along with Uzbekistan, Thailand and Afghanistan.

2022 Asian Games and FIFA Matchday
After the 2023 Asian Cup Qualification, Shin Tae-yong had the opportunity to rest for approximately three months, before returning to his feet on the sidelines to polish the U-23 national team at the 2022 Asian Games.

The U-23 Asian Games will be held on September 10-25, 2022 in Hangzhou, China.

In the last edition of the Asian Games in 2018 when it hosted, the U-23 national team was eliminated in the round of 16 after losing 3-4 to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on penalties after a 2-2 draw for 120 minutes.

In the same period, FIFA has scheduled a FIFA Matchday on 19-27 September 2022 which can be utilized by the Indonesian national team.

The agenda that is likely to be Shin Tae-yong’s last activity this year is the 2022 AFF Cup.

AFF Cup 2022
In accordance with its format, the AFF Cup is held every two years. The 2020 edition had to be screened in 2021 and ended in 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to that custom, the AFF Cup should be back in play at the end of this year.

There is news that the 2022 AFF Cup will be played after the 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar on November 21-18 December 2022.

All of the above agenda does not include the activities of the U-20 national team, which will definitely suck up a lot of Shin Tae-yong’s energy in the preparation period for the 2023 U-20 World Cup.
