Benzema Breaks Thierry Henry’s Record at Club Level

Karim Benzema has always been in the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo when the two were still in the Real Madrid uniform. However, when he became the only mainstay senior player, he became a very important player and was able to make new history at club level.

The ESPN report says Benzema’s goalscoring record has surpassed the record previously broken by Thierry Henry, as the most fertile French player at club level. In total, he has scored 361 goals, one goal ahead of Henry’s previous record.

Consistent goalscoring in the last three seasons : Sharpness has the potential to continue to grow. Moreover, Benzema is still the champion of Real Madrid to become a goal machine this season. The proof is that he has collected 11 goals in 13 matches he has played this season with Los Blancos.

Since joining Madrid, Benzema is still less prominent than Ronaldo. However, after Ronaldo moved to Juventus in 2018, the 33-year-old has consistently scored 20 goals or more in a season.

Meanwhile, Thierry Henry began to show his talent when he defended AS Monaco in 1995. Starting his career at AS Monaco, he had become a star until Arsenal glimpsed. Then, he was also the spearhead of the mainstay at Barcelona a few years ago.

Henry’s achievements in the French national team are much better : Unfortunately his achievements with the French national team are still less flashy when compared to Henry. If he has not been able to bring the Blues achievement, Henry is able to present the European Cup and World Cup titles while still actively playing.

At best, Benzema was only able to lead the French national team to step into the round of 16 of Euro 2020. Of course that is not a title record that can be compared to what Henry has achieved.

Benzema is fourth in the 2021 Ballon d’Or : Karim Benzema’s consistent performance in the last few seasons has earned Benzema a nomination for the 2021 Ballon d’Or. His name is included with Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Jorginho, Mohamed Salah and several other top players in Europe.

It’s just that, the acquisition of points is still less than Messi (613) who stole this individual award. He is also behind Robert Lewandowski who is in second place (580), and Jorginho (460) who trails in third.

Meanwhile, Benzema is in fourth position with a record of 239 points. He still can’t compete with the other players. If only he was able to bring the French national team to the 2022 World Cup and lead Real Madrid to victory in LaLiga, it could be that the title will be pinned to him next season.
