The film adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe’s short story marks his directorial debut.
‘Soul of a Man’ will be a short film by the horror clown ‘IT’, which is 19 minutes long and premieres exclusively on Indiewire.
Bill Skarsgård has made a name for himself as a pretty scary guy in a variety of film and TV roles. But for the new short film, ‘Soul of a Man,’ the actor took his knowledge of fear by applying his role as a director.
Indiewire exclusively screened the short film ‘Soul of a Man,’ which was the actor’s directorial debut. The film stars the actor’s famous father and brothers, Stellan Skarsgård and Alexander Skarsgård, who made the film a family film.
‘Soul of a Man’ was co-written with Landon Liboiron, an actor best known for the drama series ‘Hemlock Grove’ and ‘Frontier.’ Meanwhile, the film is being produced by Jason Berman and Matthew Lindner.
‘Soul of a Man’ is adapted from the short story by renowned author, Edgar Allen Poe, entitled Bon-Bon . Like the story presented in the short story, the film ‘Soul of a Man’ tells the story of an alcoholic who is visited by the devil until the two of them then talk deeply about the natural human soul.
As a director for the first time, Skarsgard said that being a director is like having a discussion, not just obeying and giving orders to actors or to themselves. However, being a director means embracing all opinions, discussing them, then living them together. For him, directing the film ‘Soul of a Man’ feels natural when done and you can learn from everyone’s different opinions.
The Skarsgard family itself is full of talented actors, with Stellan, Alexander, and Bill perhaps the most famous. Bill Skarsgard only appeared in Marvel’s newest film, ‘Eternals’, last year, and will appear in many upcoming titles including the Swedish film, ‘Burn All My Letters,’ the action sequel ‘John Wick: Chapter 4,’ and the Netflix biographical series. entitled ‘Clark.’
Meanwhile, Alexander Skarsgard’s upcoming projects include the lead role in Robert Eggers’ historical film, ‘The Northman’, as well as sci-fi horror film ‘Infinity Pool’ by Brandon Cronenberg. The ‘Good Will Hunting’ star, Stellan Skarsgard, will be seen in the crime dramas ‘What Remains’ and ‘Dune: Part Two’ as the villain Baron Vladimir Harkonnen.
