Reportedly Have Submitted ‘Butter‘ For Nomination, For Which Category Will BTS Submit Their Song At The 2022 Grammys And Who Are The Strong Competitors Facing Jungkook And His Friends?
K-pop fans, especially ARMYs, may not be able to forget BTS’s milestone ( Bangtan Bpys ) last year when it received a nomination in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category for the song “Dynamite”. For the 2022 Grammy Awards, the group has apparently deposited one of their hits.
BTS’s “Dynamite” lost to another strong nominee, “Rain on Me” by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande at the 2021 Grammy Awards. While BTS’s loss is clearly regrettable, there’s no denying that the competition for the trophy is fierce.
Another Grammy season has now arrived. Accordingly, artists who have completed submissions for the 2022 Grammy nominations will be subject to the award’s standard tracking time (from September 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021). Recently, Billboard has revealed the names of several artists who have submitted applications for certain categories.
As reported by Billboard, BTS has submitted a nomination for the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category with the song “Butter”. This is also the category in which the group was nominated last year but unfortunately couldn’t win.
With the upcoming 2022 Grammys, BTS and their fans are looking forward to realizing their dream of winning the yet-to-be-achieved Grammy Awards. However, it will definitely be difficult because the competition is no less fierce this year.
There are four other songs besides “Butter” that were nominated for the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category at the 2022 Gramy Awards. The songs are 24kGold ‘s “Mood” & Iann Dior , “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat & SZA , “Without You” from Kid LAROI & Miley Cyrus , as well as Lizzo & Cardi B’s “Rumor” .
It can be seen that in this list, the two names that stand out the most right now are “Mood” by 24kGoldn & Iann Dior and “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat & SZA. BTS’ song “Butter” had a great achievement when it became the most No.1 Song on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2021. But at the Grammys, being on Billboard isn’t everything and the Recording Academy has its own criteria that we can’t predict.
BTS will face tough competition although fans still have the right to hope. However, in the near future, the most important goal remains for BTS to be nominated for this category. Thus, they will be the first Korean (and possibly even Asian) artist to receive a Grammy nomination for 2 consecutive years.
It is known that the Recording Academy has now begun voting for suitable artists to be nominated for a Grammy, and this selection process will run from October 22 to November 5. The Grammys will then announce the official list of nominees for the 2022 Grammy Awards on November 23.
Tight Competition, BTS Officially Enters The 2022 Grammy Awards Nomination With The Song ‘Butter’
BTS Was Again Nominated At The Prestigious 2022 Grammy Awards With Their Most Successful Single, ‘Butter’. According To Music Observers, The Opportunity For BTS To Win Trophies At The 2022 Grammy Awards Is Greater Than Before.
This year is the second time for Bangtan Boys (BTS) to be nominated at the prestigious Grammy Awards. Now is the time for BTS to compete with other world-renowned musicians at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
Last year, BTS was nominated in three categories for their 2020 album MAP OF THE SOUL: 7. These include Album of the Year, Best Engineered Album Non-Classical, and Best Pop Vocal Album.
Not only that, they were also included in the Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Music Video, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance categories for their latest single, “Dynamite”.
Called to have a higher chance of winning than last year, BTS relied on the single “Butter” for the Best Pop Duo/Group category. As usual, the competition is fierce. But BTS never backs down from the challenge.
The category itself is a category that recognizes achievements in “new vocals or duo/group instrumentals or collaborative pop recordings”. “Butter” is currently nominated along with the song “Mood” belonged 24kGoldn (feat. Iann Dior ), “Kiss Me More” belongs Doja Cat (feat. SZA ), “Without You” belongs to The Kid LAROI and Miley Cyrus , and “Rumors” courtesy of Lizzo (feat. Cardi B ).
Previously, casual listeners and music critics alike were surprised that “Dynamite” didn’t win at the 2021 Grammy Awards. However, a rule change made by The Recording Academy in April could increase BTS’ chances of winning the trophy in 2022.
Music journalist Paul Grein highlighted the fact that the Academy would be disbanding its nomination review committee. This means that for the first time in 27 years, voting members will have the final say on nominations in the Bog Four category.
BTS was actually offered a position as a voting member in 2019, with Bang Si Hyuk accepting an invitation to join the Academy as a professional member. While there were still thousands of other artists and industry professionals also serving as voting members, the mysterious elite who were known to have a huge influence on the nominations wouldn’t be a roadblock anymore.
With that in mind, Paul Grein asserted that “Butter” could compete for the “Rocord of the Year” award this time around, given that the song has been a hit for longer than “Dynamite”. The song successfully topped Billboard’s Hot 100 for 10 consecutive weeks.
