Chelsea managed to beat Tottenham Hotspur with a score of 2-0 in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at Stamford Bridge, January 5, 2021.

Chelsea’s goals were scored by Kai Havertz after just five minutes and an own goal from Ben Davies in the 34th minute.

This result is a bitter reunion for Antonio Conte, the Tottenham coach who returned to the headquarters of the club he had coached.

Chelsea appear dominant in this match. They appear to attack and create opportunities. On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur played waiting and took advantage of the counter-attack.

Based on statistics, Chelsea excel in possession with a percentage reaching 64 percent compared to 36 percent.

The Blues recorded six shots on goal for a total of 19 yards. While Spurs fired five shots towards the goal where there were two that led to the goal.

With this result, Chelsea only need a draw in the second leg to qualify for the Carabao Cup final. Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur must win and turn things around if they want to qualify for the final.

The semi-final second leg will be played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 12 January 2022.
