Many expectations loomed over this film, but the specialized critics seem to have come forward to tear them down. Read what is said about the film here.

This Thursday, November 4, Eternals will hit theaters. The new film of the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the most anticipated films of this end of the year that has seen theaters resume their activity and receive the large tanks that had been postponed. Many expectations loomed over this film, but the specialized critics seem to have come forward to tear them down.

After collecting 152 reviews, the film starring Angelina Jolie has become Marvel’s first “rotten” movie on Rotten Tomatoes. The page, which is one of the most important references on cinema, has awarded a score of 57%, based on the opinions of experts.

This is surprising for several reasons: on the one hand, this film is directed by ChloĆ© Zhao – who has just won the Oscar for Nomadland -; on the other, it involves a true Marvel-style production rollout and also has great additions to the MCU, not just Jolie but Salma Hayek as well .

Thus, this film is located below the worst Marvel scores on Rotten Tomatoes: The Incredible Hulk with 67% and Thor: The Dark World with 66%, because precisely the film must exceed 60% to be among the fresh critics . Although Venom and The Fantastic 4 have also obtained a rotten rating, this is the first of the UCM, which already implies a terrible publicity prior to its premiere.

It still remains to know the opinion of the general public and the followers, but it is already known that since production there is no intention of making a sequel, something quite unusual for Marvel Studios. This film also gave rise to talk since in its post credit scene it was revealed that singer Harry Styles will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a contract for 5 films playing Eros, Thanos’ brother.
