Chelsea were only able to achieve a draw at home to Everton. So what made the Blues lose points in this match?

The hosts managed to take the lead first through Mason Mount in the 70th minute. However, Everton were able to equalize through Jarrad Branthwaite in the 74th minute.

Chelsea itself did not appear at its full strength in this match. The reason is, a number of players have to be absent with some of them exposed to Covid-19.

Many Players Absent
After the match, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel did not deny that the absence of a number of players also affected the current performance of his team.

“I’m afraid we have too many players out, I think today six or seven players out. This is one of the main problems at the moment,” Tuchel told the club’s official website.

Should be able to win
With strength remaining, Tuchel feels his team can bag a win against Everton. However, the results in the field turned out to be different.

Chelsea failed to get three points against Everton in the Premier League. Coach Thomas Tuchel was disappointed that his squad failed to anticipate the visitors’ set piece scheme.

Everton actually did not make too many threats. Thomas Tuchel was disappointed because his team could not anticipate the visitors’ set piece scheme.

“Today’s defense was no worries, we conceded from set pieces,” Tuchel told BBC Sport .

“I don’t understand if we play like this in defence, they don’t have chances to score but can do it from a free-kick. Okay, great.”

Failed to Take Advantage of Opportunities
Chelsea fired 23 shots and 10 attempts on target. Tuchel was also disappointed his squad failed to take advantage of opportunities.

Losing Many Players
Chelsea performed less than optimally at home to Everton because a number of their flagship players were exposed to Covid-19.

“We put the last guys we had and we lost big personality and quality.”

Away from the Peak
This draw makes Chelsea further behind from the top of the Premier League standings. They collected 37 points and four points adrift of Manchester City.

“Liverpool is Liverpool, Man City is Man City. We did what we did, we lost seven players and had chances to miss the game.”
