Bayern Munich have officially signed versatile defender Daley Blind on a free transfer after he agreed to terminate his contract with Ajax.

The former Manchester United player has now signed a short-term contract with the German giants until June 2023 or just six months.

“We are very pleased that Daley has joined the team. Daley is a versatile defender who can play on the left as well as in the center of defence,” Bayern said on their official Twitter account on Friday.

Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidic said the 32-year-old’s experience and quality could help the club achieve their targets this season.

“He has a lot of international experience and leadership qualities. I’m sure he can help us,” said Salihamidic.

Daley Blind himself can’t wait to play at this club and will help to win various trophies this season.

I can’t wait to play here soon. We will go through an important period this season, which is about titles and a club like Bayern can win all the trophies. The hunger to win lots of trophies is the main factor in deciding to join here,” Daley Blind said after officially Bayern uniform.

Blind himself came through the Ajax Amsterdam academy and made his senior team debut in 2008.

He then spent four years with Manchester United after joining the club in 2014, winning the FA Cup, EFL Cup and Europa League during that time.

Blind then returned to Ajax in 2018 and played an integral role in the side that reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League the following year.

Overall, Blind played 333 times for the Amsterdam club, scoring 13 goals and providing 21 assists.
