‘Minx’ will recount the early beginnings of the creation of the first adult magazine for women in the 1970s
HBO Max has just released the trailer for its new series, ‘Minx’, ahead of its release later this month.
‘Minx’ tells the story of Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond), a feminist activist who is very concerned about the issues she raises, who publishes a feminist magazine in California in the 1970s. Suddenly, he is invited to work with Doug Renetti (Jake Johnson), a low-end publisher who has ambitions to produce the world’s first erotic magazine for women.
As the trailer shows, naive and overzealous Joyce is turned down by a number of male publishers before meeting Doug, one of California’s most prolific porn businessmen.
The two immediately consulted to think of a way to covertly voice Joyce’s feminist agenda by layering it through “other means”. One of them is by showing naked men.
Joyce’s life changes when she finds herself in a culture war and enjoying her life in the world of pornographic publications.
Dubbed “the porn queen of Pasadena” in the trailer, Joyce struggles to adjust to an industry known to be filthy, a life impoverished by producing adult magazines, endless model testing, being labeled too “smart” by her coworkers, and even accidentally ending up in business. with the mafia.
Despite all that, Joyce slowly began to accept the success her magazine had, changing the conversation around female sexuality forever.
The series also stars Idara Victor, Jessica Lowe, Lennon Parham, Michael Angarano, and Oscar Montoya. Ellen Rapoport is a series creator, director, and executive producer with Johnson, Paul Feig, Feigco Entertainment’s Dan Magnante, Ben Karlin, and Rachel Lee Goldenberg. Karlin and Goldenberg also directed the series’ first episode. Lionsgate Television is also involved in this series.
’70s porn magazines,” Rapoport said while expressing his gratitude, quoted by Collider.
Paul Feig himself was immediately impressed by Rapoport’s vision. He called it something extraordinary for a comedy series. It’s also the right move with HBO Max because they need a partner who’s brave enough to let them take it to the small screen as honestly as possible.
“With an impressive lineup of actors and actresses and our brilliant director, this is Minx to the Max!” Feig said.
‘Minx’ will premiere on HBO Max on March 17, with two new episodes premiering each week until April 14. The series has a total of 10 episodes.
