Korean Dramas and Movies Set in the Mountains, There are Jirisan

Korean dramas have various genres with storylines that are increasingly difficult to miss. The storyline will determine the setting of a place that cannot be chosen just like that.

This month, a Korean drama with a mystery and thriller genre titled Jirisan will soon be aired with a mountainous backdrop. Top actors and actresses also appeared in the drama to display outstanding acting. Among them Jun Ji Hyun and Joo Ji Hoon.

1. The Himalayas (2015)
Based on a true story, The Himalayas tells the story of the journey of Uhm Hong Gil (Hwang Jung Min) who took the body of his climbing friend Park Mu Taek (Jung Woo). The body is still left in the Himalayas. The two have a strong friendship that often climbs the tops of the world.

This inspiring story begins with their intention to climb Everest together. Unfortunately, Hong Gil suffers a leg injury so Mu Taek leads the climb. However, bad news from Mu Taek makes Hong Gil climb Everest to find his friend.

 

2. Ashfall (2019)
Being one of the highest-grossing films at the end of 2019, Ashfall tells the story of the volcanic eruption of Mount Baekdu which can wipe out the Korean Peninsula.

Scientists are trying to prevent the big eruption with the knowledge they have. South Korea also sent two teams to steal North Korean nuclear bombs and detonated them on Mount Baekdu as a precaution.

Released on December 19, 2019, Ashfall managed to get 4 million viewers after a week of viewing, beating the film Extreme Job . In addition, the film, directed by Lee Hae Jun and Kim Byung Seo, stars Ha Jung Woo, Bae Suzy, Lee Byung Hun, and Ma Dong Seok.

 

3. Forest (2020)
The romantic genre, Forest begins its story with a surgical resident named Jung Young Jae (Jo Bo Ah) who moves to a small hospital in a forest in a mountain.

He also meets a member of the special rescue team named Kang San Hyeok (Park Hae Jin). Fate makes them live in the same house until love grows between them.

The drama which was aired by KBS2 was worked on by director Oh Jong Rok in collaboration with writer Lee Seon Young. Forest was also enlivened by the presence of Jung Yun Joo, Noh Kwang Shik, and Ryu Seung Soo.

 

4. When the Weather Is Fine (2020)
Aired by the television station JTBC, When the Weather Is Fine tells the story of a former cello coach named Mok Hae Won (Park Min Young). He had a tough time living in Seoul.

Mok Hae Won decided to return to his hometown and find inner peace. There, Hae Won meets Im Eun Sup (Seo Kang Joon), an old friend who keeps a secret from the mountains in the village.

A total of 16 episodes, When the Weather Is Fine is adapted from the novel of the same name by Lee Do Woo. This romantic genre drama also stars Mon Jung Hee, Lee Jae Wook, Im Se Mi, Kim Young Dae, and Yang Hye Ji.

 

 

5. Jirisan (2021)
Soon to air, Jirisan tells about the forest rangers and employees of Mount Jiri National Park. The rangers will venture down the mysterious and unexplored Mount Jiri hiking trail.

They work together to solve the mystery on Mount Jiri. Their struggle was not easy, because they had to face extreme weather and dangerous terrain.

Aired by tvN, Jirisan or Cliffhanger was worked on by director Lee Eung Bok and writer Kim Eun Hee. The drama also stars top actors and actresses, including Jun Ji Hyun, Joo Ji Hoon, Sung Dong Il, Oh Jung Se, Jo Han Chul, and Go Min Shi.
