Movie Review Olaf’s Frozen Adventure

In this film, Anna and Elsa are told, for the first time, on vacation together after a long separation. It is said that Olaf, who this time becomes the main character, is looking for information about the celebration of the Christmas holiday. He is sad. Because there are no special Christmas traditions in Arendelle. So, the story goes, Olaf and his pal, the cute reindeer Sven, go around in search of the family with the coolest Christmas traditions.

Just like the old Frozen, which was decorated by many songs, Disney Animation also prepared four songs at once to be shown in the film Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. All of which are holiday and Christmas themed. The songs were composed by Elyssa Samsel and Kate Anderson. The former was successful when arranging the music for the animated film Big Hero 6 (2014).

Meanwhile, husband and wife Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who used to be successful in arranging Frozen music, are not involved in the film Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. Because they are both focused on preparing the Frozen 2 sequel project.

Snippets of songs in the film Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, in fact, have been shown at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, last July. The first is the song The Time of Year by Josh Gad. Then there is When We’re Together by Idina Menzel and Ring in the Season by Kristen Bell. Meanwhile, the fourth song, The Ballad of Flemmingrad, became Jonathan Groff’s quota.

However, unfortunately, after being released globally as the opening for the film Coco on last Wednesday (22/11), the audience’s response to Olaf’s Frozen Adventure was less positive. However, even so, there are also critics who say that this short film made by the director duo Kevin Deters and Stevie Wermers does not disappoint. Because it can be a bridge before watching the sequel to Frozen 2 later.

Pixar Animation Studios, it seems, is never tired of producing quality films. After Finding Dory (2016) and Cars 3 (2017), in 2017, the Disney subsidiary released an animated film called Coco. Which started showing in cinemas on Friday (24/11) yesterday.

However, unlike Finding Dory and Cars 3, both of which are sequels, Coco is an original animated film. The last time Pixar released a film that wasn’t a sequel was The Good Dinosaur (2015). It’s been two years ago.

So, Coco is the first film. Which, if successful, perhaps, will be continued into the next films. As with Toy Story (1995), Monsters, Inc. (2001), Finding Nemo (2003), The Incredibles (2004), and Cars (2006) first.

Coco’s film with a musical theme with a Mexican cultural background tells the story of Miguel (Anthony Gonzalez). A 12 year old Mexican boy. Who really wants to be a musician. However, his grandmother, Abuelita Elena (Renee Victor), is against his dream. Because their family has not wanted to listen to music for a long time.

However, Miguel did not despair. He keeps trying to make his dreams come true. Miguel kept looking for ways. In order to become a famous singer like his idol: Ernesto de la Cruz (Benjamin Bratt). Until, one day, because of pursuing his dream, the boy got trapped in the Land of the Dead!
