Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta claims he did not try to be a dictator when he removed the armband from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Aubameyang was removed from the captaincy for disciplinary action. He’s been overlooked by Arteta for four games in a row, and even ostracized from the first team.
Mikel Arteta insists he is only asking for respect and commitment from his players, not trying to be cruel.
“I’m not building my authority by being a dictator or trying to be ruthless,” he told reporters ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with bottom team Norwich City on Boxing Day, as quoted by Eurosport , Saturday (12/25/2021).
“I only ask for one thing, that is respect and commitment. Just that. And if you don’t ask for it at this rate, I’d better pack my bags and go somewhere else because that’s the minimum you can ask for.”
“I’m sorry, but I would expect that (respect and commitment) from everyone who works for the club. First of all myself. If I don’t do it then I head out the door and go elsewhere. As clear as that, ” added Mikel Arteta .
“I’m not going to ask someone to put the ball into the corner of the goal every time I kick, but I’m going to ask them to do the right thing every day. That’s for sure.”
Where did Aubameyang leave?
Meanwhile, Juventus is reportedly rethinking the plan to bring in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal in January or summer 2022. It turns out that the source of the Bianconeri’s doubts is because of the experience of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is likely to leave Arsenal next year after being ostracized from the first team by manager Mikel Arteta. He was sentenced to be stripped of his position as captain for disciplinary action.
The Gabon national player has not played in four consecutive games by Arteta. He also no longer trains with the first team.
There are two teams that are reportedly interested in asking for his hand, namely Juventus and Barcelona. Lately, the chance to move closer to Turin is getting bigger.
However, Italian media La Gazetta dello Sport , Saturday (12/25/2021), is reportedly now even hesitant to continue the plan to bring Aubameyang.
Juventus are hesitant to sign high-paid players like they experienced with Cristiano Ronaldo. As it turned out, Ronaldo suddenly asked to leave at the end of last season which made the Bianconeri hit hard and have not fully recovered until now.
La Vecchia Signora is said to prefer to look for a more complete type of striker, not like Aubameyang who is more in the penalty box. Juventus are reportedly more interested in signing Manchester United striker Anthony Martial or Sassuolo striker,
High Salary Blocked
Meanwhile, Arsenal are reportedly already looking for a potential buyer for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. They plan to release the striker in January 2022, as Arteta has also approved the sale.
As reported by ESPN , Thursday (12/23/2021), the North London club is wide open to anyone who wants to bid on Aubameyang.
Barcelona are known to have long been eyeing Aubameyang, and are looking for a striker to replace Sergio Aguero, who was forced to retire early due to health problems.
However, Aubameyang’s high salary is a barrier. Barcelona are still affected by the financial crisis so it will be difficult to meet the salary of the Gabon player, which is worth 250,000 pounds per week.
Juventus are also interested in bringing Aubameyang on loan until the end of the season. However, again the two parties must first reach an agreement on salary.
Other clubs also linked with the former Arsenal captain are Inter Milan and AC Milan. Chelsea was also mentioned but it seems Arsenal will not want to sell players to their city club.
