Avatar 2 movie certainly will not be delayed airing again. 20th Century Fox president Steve Asbell promised a sequel to Avatar (2009) will air December 16, 2022, as scheduled.

Yes. It will air (on schedule). Really. It will surprise a lot of people. You will not be ready for the things that Jim (James Cameron) has done, said Steve Asbell as reported by THR some time ago.

Since September 2020, Director James Cameron has stated that he has finished shooting Avatar 2. Not only that, he also announced that shooting for Avatar 3 has taken place 95 percent of the time.

I’m shooting in New Zealand. We are recording the rest of the live-action about 10 percent remaining. We are 100 percent done with Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 is 95 percent finished, said James Cameron at the time.

Initially, Avatar will have two sequels namely Avatar 2 and Avatar 3. Avatar 2 is planned to be released in 2014 or about 13 years since the initial release of Avatar. However, that all changed at the stage of its development.

Previously, the shooting of Avatar in New Zealand was delayed due to the outbreak of the corona virus that causes Covid-19. Since then they have switched to working on the virtual portion of the movie in California and Weta Digital working on visual effects.

Production of the Avatar 2 movie reportedly began in 2017 at a cost of US$1 billion. In early 2020, the studio reported that the Avatar sequel would be released on December 17, 2021.

However, the plan was again delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic which changed the production schedule and the Avatar sequel airing changed. Not only Avatar 2, but the third to fifth installments were also affected.

Disney has announced that Avatar 2 Movie will be released on December 16, 2022. Promised To Stay On Time Avatar 3 Movie on December 20, 2024, Avatar 4 Movie on December 18, 2026, and Avatar 5 on December 22, 2028.

The first Avatar series had become the highest-grossing movie of all time, before being shifted to Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Until then Avatar will have four sequels, namely Avatar 5.
