Ferran Torres will soon be the next Manchester City player to be hijacked by Barcelona. Pep Guardiola as coach of The Citizens could not do anything to prevent the player’s move.
Torres anchored at the Etihad Stadium after being hijacked from Valencia for 23 million euros in 2020. His first season went well, although not special with a record 13 goals from 36 appearances in all competitions.
Unfortunately, instead of going up and down, Torres’ achievement has actually decreased this season. He missed the last three months due to injury. Therefore, the number of appearances was limited to only seven matches.
Torres can be grateful, because his injury did not close the eyes of other clubs. Barcelona, who needed a new striker to come for his hand, were reported to have received the blessing of Manchester City and of course Pep Guardiola to bring Torres to Camp Nou.
Pep Guardiola Can’t Stop
Pep Guardiola himself does not have the power to stop the player from wanting to stay at the Etihad Stadium. For him, a football career was short. So that the opportunity to play at the desired club should not be missed.
“Of course not [disappointed].
“A footballer’s career is short, one day it will end. If he wants to leave, there is absolutely no disappointment. If that is his wish, I will be happy too.”
Hard to Reject Barcelona and Real Madrid
Guardiola has seen two of his players move to Barcelona in the transfer market last summer. Starting from Eric Garcia, and followed by Sergio Aguero, who just announced hanging up his boots recently.
He also witnessed the move of Brahim Diaz who chose to join Real Madrid in 2019. So, Guardiola knows exactly what will happen if the two Spanish clubs come to woo Manchester City players.
It’s very difficult,” Guardiola added.
“They are still the strongest team in the world in terms of fashion, city and many other reasons. He’s from Spain, Barcelona came knocking on the door and I understand why he wanted to leave.”
