Astra Honda Racing Team fostered driver Mario Aji will be in Honda Team Asia (HTA) in Moto3 2022. He will be in the same team as Japanese racer Taiyo Furusato.

Mario Aji is the only driver from Indonesia who will appear in Moto3 2022. This 17-year-old racer replaces Andi Gilang.

The choice of Mario Aji could not be separated from his appearance when he participated in the FIM CEV Moto3 Junior World Championship 2021. He packed 53 points and placed 12th.

“For next season’s target, I will try my best with this special opportunity,” said Mario Aji, during a virtual press conference session, Wednesday (12/22/2021).

“Of course I want to progress every race and learn with the performance of the new team. I definitely want the results that have been expected to be achieved,” he added.

Mario Aji’s Preparation
Furthermore, Mario Aji said that his preparation for Moto3 2022 was maximal. Moreover, the fracture he suffered in November 2021 has improved.

“Alhamdulillah, the progress of my broken bone has been good. Yesterday I also started cycling, but lightly and without pressure from my feet,” said the racer from Magetan, East Java.

The bones have started to connect, although not yet 100 percent. The recovery is good, but it will take time,” added Mario Aji.

AHM commitment
Meanwhile, Andy Wijaya as General Manager of Marketing Planning & Analysis of AHM said, gradual racing coaching is his commitment to young racers in the country so that they can compete in the world racing arena. He also realizes that all journeys in achieving achievements cannot be separated from the support of the community.

“We express our gratitude to the Indonesian people for the support that has been given to our fostered racers in scoring achievements. This is certainly a positive energy in the midst of the limitations of the current pandemic,” he said.

“With the spirit of One Heart, we hope that the achievements of our fostered racers can inspire young people in Indonesia to achieve their dreams,” added Andy.
